Organizing Facebook, New Facebook

New Facebook, Organizing Friends, Organizing Facebook
Alot of confusion has surrounded the transition to the new facebook. There have been numerous groups formed around maintaining the old facebook structure vs. the new and to generally argue whether it was a good idea to make these changes.
In talking to people and seeing where the confusion lies…the basic determination is that there are many people that just aren’t using the new facebook the way it was intended. Organizing Facebook and organizing Facebook friends is essential to get the most out of the system.
ORGANIZING THE FACEBOOK HOMEPAGE:

The New Facebook
In first using Facebook or the new version, you might find that you have alot of friends and just really don’t care much about some of them on your list…but due to the number, are missing important updates of those that you are really wanting to follow and communicate with. The beauty of the new Facebook is that the people on your list can actually be filed into lists. You can set a main list of the people that are most important to you as the default list…and you will therefore only see their updates.
WHY FILE FRIENDS INTO LISTS:
Keep track of people by specific groups that you know them from, games you play with them, organizations they are in, projects they are related to, or otherwise…this allows you to keep track of people and their activitied by subject…and breaks their items into smaller newsfeeds…ultimately leading to less items per newsfeed and a system that you can actually follow.
HOW DO I ORGANIZE FACEBOOK CONTACTS INTO THESE LISTS?
The process of doing this is not entirely super obvious…but the basic instructions for how you do this in a couple of cases is below…and Facebook has been adding some methods of classing people to lists to the system as a whole…such as being able to do so through chat.
TO ORGANIZE YOUR EXISTING FRIENDS INTO LISTS:
(Yes, this has gotten easier now that there is an ADD TO LIST function)
Look at top navigation (that goes across the top of the screen)
Roll over or hover over the FRIENDS tab
Choose either ALL FRIENDS or NEW FRIENDS
You will see a list of friends
Choose add to list or select an existing list
That’s it
**An important note is that if they are not on a list or there is not a list, you will select the arrow at the extreme right of the friend summary…it will drop down to allow you to type in the name and create the list there (or select from an existing list)
CREATING LISTS AHEAD OF TIME FROM HOMEPAGE: You can also do this from the left hand sidebar, there will be a More and Create tab. The create tab will allow for a new list to be created and people to be classified to it.
SETTING A DEFAULT: To set the lists of friends that will show on your default newsfeed, you simply drag the list label in the top left sidebar to the top position, and it will be the one that shows when you login.
TO SEE THE OTHER LISTS: In order to see the newsfeed from the friends on the other lists, you just click on them from the left sidebar and items relative to friends on that list will be brought in and shown specific to that list.
TO PLACE ON LIST FROM CHAT: You must have already created a list in order to do this (see above). Once this is done, you can just hover over the list label in chat and an edit button will appear. You can simply then click on the EDIT tab that appears when you do this. It will allow you to select friends for that list by clicking on them. Select as many as you would like.
ADDING PEOPLE FOR GAMES: You might add people for games on Facebook but not want them permanently on your list. You can add them as a friend, which enables you to add them as a game friend, crew or otherwise. Once they are added in the respective game, you can them look at your list to remember why you had added that person…and if you find them to be a person you will not have continual interest in following…or a person that you do not want to see your information on a continuous basis, you can then delete them from your list and still have them on your game crew.
What is Web 2.0

The Social Networking Craze centers around a technology called Web 2.0
Many people know what social networking is, but aren’t entirely sure about Web 2.0 in terms of exactly what it is. This quite simply put, is a web presence centered around communication, sharing, collaboration and bringing communities together to make web initiatives more interactive.
The term is interesting in itself as a label as much of the technology had already pre-existed that is now the focus of many to bring to their websites or internet usage. It is this movement that might actually have the Web2.0 label applied to it, rather than the technologies themselves…although, the movement is feeding the advancement of these technology developments and such advancement is promoting the public to embrace applications that can make life easier and more connected.
Bad Economic Times Mean Prosperity

It has always been that those who prosper are those who realize that bad economic times can be an opportunity to excel. All too often, even business people get caught up in the media hype and put off plans until tomorrow…which contributes to what is perceived as a slowdown. The slowdown is on us…and the wise handful of use who have realized this ahead of time will be (and are) on the forefront of being leaders…as a matter of fact, we are leaders.
The economy is an always has been a cycle which has highs and lows. As people lose jobs (get laid off) or see a slowdown, new ideas are formulated, new businesses are generated and the restructure occours. Would you rather be in the front of this process or on the sidelines watching. Innovative business leaders are cropping up everywhere in the current perceived unsettled times. Unemployment rates do skyrocket, but this is no excuse for inactivity, we must be flexible and change with the times.
Opportunity is Knocking. Are You?
